Worldspine has far more residents of uncommon races than most other places in the World, including Thieves'’ Bay. This is because so much of Worldspine is remote and isolated, connected only by regular trade caravans. Most of the population is dwarf, and much of that lives underground, in Mineholt.
Locations of Note
Trade Routes: Without these major road-ways, Worldspine would not be a nation at all. As it is, Worldspine is more a collection of independent economic zones loosely united by the Mercantile Guilds that maintain and patrol the trade routes from Sandalwood Camp in the north to the Great Way in the south.
Paint Brush Plain: The Plain is named for a strain of grain in which each stalk is topped with a tuft of differently-colored silk. The farms and villages along Camp Road produce much of the foot for Mineholt.
Jungle of Tears: Hot, marshy, and dangerous, this jungle gets its name from the fact that humidity gathers on the leaves high in the canopy and drips down like rain, even on the driest of days. Home to monsters--including at least two green dragons--few dare to venture into the Jungle of Tears.
Kelthan Oasis: Far to the north of the Worldspine Mountains the plains give way to desert. Here a tribal group of nomadic Tieflings harvest the sands for exotic gems and spices, collecting at the Oasis to trade with merchants from Mineholt and to weather the storms.
Worldspine Mountains: Nearly two thousand miles long and one thousand wide, the Worldspine mountains are divided by a deep valley through which a trading road runs. The northern range is home to Mineholt, the dwarf kingdom. The southern range is dotted with small dwarf settlements, most occupying deep cave complexes.
Mineholt: A deep series of mines beneath a thriving underground city, Mineholt is the largest settlement in Worldspine and its capital city. Mineholt is home to one of the woders of the world, the trains, a series of cars, tracks, and water-wheels allowing for efficient transportation to and from the deep mines. Though it is technically a monarchy, Mineholt is in fact ruled by a guild-council, the Klannen’Komm.
Mercantile North & Mercantile South: These twin cities stand on the north and south slopes of Mineholt Peak and enter directly into the mountain. They are trading hubs and cosmopolitan centers of activity, with merchants from across the region--and from more distant and exotic locales--coming together to trade for star steel, paint-brush grain, Kelthan spices, and rare sandalwood harvested from the Jungle of Tears.
Spine-spire: A tall tower at the eastern end of the north range, Spine-spire marks the border of Worldspine and Talat. It has traditionally been controlled by the King of Mineholt.
